Great Mac OS X Software Applications
Firefox by Mozilla.org
Firefox is an excellent browser for Mac OS X and it's available for free. We highly recommend using either Firefox or Apple's Safari browser as you default browser for the Mac. (If you still have Microsoft Internet Explorer on your Mac, drag it to the trash. Explorer on the Mac is riddled with bugs and Microsoft stopped working on this browser years ago when Apple released Safari.)
PodWorks by Sci-Fi Hi-Fi
PodWorks is a great utility program which allows you to copy songs and playlists from your iPod into iTunes on your Apple Computer. There are many free programs that boast the ability to move songs off your iPod, however they do not copy playlists and their interface is clunky. PodWorks is the best iPod utility software we've seen. The program costs around $10 and is worth every penny.
SnapZ Pro by Ambrosia
SnapZ Pro is a screen shot utility application and a great alternative to Apple's Grab application. SnapZ Pro lets you customize screen shot key commands and includes the ability to record movies. So if you want to create a walk-through demonstration of your web site, complete with voice narration, simply press the record button in SnapZ Pro and all cursor movements made on your computer screen will be recorded.
Sticky Brain by Chronos
Sticky Brain is a wonderful notes application. The interface is intuitive allowing you to easily organize your notes. It stores text, photos, links, web pages etc. Once you start using this application you will wonder how you ever managed to live without it.
Transmit by Panic Software
Transmit is our favorite FTP software. While GoLive and Dreamweaver both have built in FTP clients, these applications tend to be moody. Transmit has a great user interface and it is dependable... meaning that it always uploads files... while other FTP applications randomly hiccup and crash. Check out Panic's other great software too.
xScope by The Icon Factory
xScope is a fabulous application providing screen rulers, cross section bars, guides and more. If you work with applications which don't provide consistent layout features (templates, master pages etc) then you will find xScope to be one of your most essential applications. The best feature of this app is that you can save your guides to coordinate with different projects.
You Control Fonts by You Software
You Control Fonts lets you organize your fonts in folders and is accessible in the top menu from all applications. Finally you can have a folder of "pixel" fonts, "header" fonts, "web" fonts etc. If you have tons of fonts on your computer - this application is an absolute must have. Check the other applications by You Software - all their stuff is great.
